Our clients come to us often when in crisis and may be afraid or distressed. They have serious problems and their ability to resolve things themselves can be more difficult due to advanced age, health problems, lack of knowledge of services or lack of confidence to act on their own.
Advocacy support is both practical and personal – we identify sources of advice and information, and ensure our clients have access to all the help they need. We act on behalf of our clients, making sure their wishes are heard and their right to choice is upheld.
We work with older people in every kind of situation – people in their own homes or in residential accommodation, specialist units or hospitals – people with physical or mental health problems, and people who are not involved in the social care system.
We have a dedicated team of trained and supported Volunteer Advocates who work in partnerships with clients. We aim to achieve positive outcomes for our clients and the majority find themselves in a better position and with an improved quality of life.
We are an independent charity funded by local statutory authorities and local and national charitable funders.
